The Powder Wrap

Another year has gone by and I still don't keep up with this blog. Guess what? I am starting another knitting project, the Powder Wrap by Casapinka. I just started it today. It is worsted-weight, so is working up fast.  Hopefully, I can keep writing and letting you know what is happening. Due to Covid-19, there have been many MKALs and I have lots of new items to show.

Twelve Days of Knitmas MKAL

I am working on the Twelve Days of Knitmas MKAL. I was supposed to start it on Dec 26th, but life got in the way. I am working on clue 5 and will keep working on it in my spare time.

New Project August 2019

I started a new project last night even though I have several others going. I needed to do something new. So. I am making another small shawlette. Surprise!  But my friends wouldn't have guessed that about me. It is also pink, another surprise.

Double Rainbow

Double Rainbow at Lincolnville Beach
Well, this is the third year of the Maine Yarn Cruise, and I am well on my way to being done. We were going to head to York today, but the chance of severe thunderstorms has made me change my mind.  Last week we did the Freeport to Bath run and on the way home, ran into rain between Camden and Lincolnville. It wasn't bad but was cold. We stopped at Lincolnville Beach and saw the most beautiful double rainbow that stretched from one end to another over Islesboro. I took some pictures and made one my profile picture.

Notes on the shawl

Guess what?  I had to take out the shawl.  I was almost finished and realized that I wasn't going to have enough of the blue yarn. So I sent away to Belfast Mini Mills for some more of the blue fiber to spin.  Unfortunately, it was a much darker shade and it didn't match. So, I unraveled the shawl and made two cowls instead.  Strands of Pearls by Rose Beck. A very nice pattern that I messed up on with the first cowl, but did correctly with the second one.

The one with the correct pattern is on the left. I did too many rows of blue in the strands on the right, but it looks fine.  I did love the shawl but just didn't see any way to salvage it. I had to unravel it when I was alone as no one wanted me to take it out.

Section one - Done!

Well, the shawl is coming along nicely.  I finished section 1 yesterday, and cast on for part two with color B, only to realize that I should have cast on with color A, so ripped out that part. Now I have the cast on stitches done and am ready to start knitting section 2.

It is easier to see the design in the first photo. I took them inside, so the color is not so intense.

NHA Gathering Fiber Challenge

I have spun up the fiber and then some for the Fiber Challenge for The Gathering in November. It is a little thicker than I wanted. I was originally going to use a single, but spun it too tight, so had to ply it. I guess I need to take a class on spinning singles. Too bad I didn't sign up for that class at the Gathering. Anyway, I cast on for the pattern I am making last night while at the races. I dropped a stitch, and had to cast on again, as it is Tillibuddy's Very Stretchy Cast on and I couldn't figure out how to pick up the stitches I had dropped. So, now to keep working and hope I have enough yarn.
